Two bills in Congress could strip wolves of Endangered Species Act protections and open the door to unsustainable hunting and trapping.
A bill from Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) would strip wolves in Wisconsin and other Great Lakes states of protections and could lead to another gruesome hunt like the 2021 hunt that led to more than 200 wolves being slaughtered in just days.
Representative Lauren Boebert (R-CO) put forth legislation that would reinstate a Trump-era policy which would kick wolves off of the endangered species list from coast-to-coast and allow states to set hunting and trapping seasons. It would even prevent courts from reviewing the action.
