Derek Goldman is an avid outdoorsman and conservationist currently living in Missoula, Montana. He has spent the last 20 years exploring the mountains of the northern Rockies. An enthusiastic gardener, Derek began learning to hunt game as means to provide additional local and sustainable food during the long Montana winters. He subsequently discovered that hunting also affords a new impetus to get out and explore the backcountry during a time year other than full summer or ski season. Derek enjoys hunting for the full days of quiet solitude and abundant opportunities for wildlife viewing offered by the autumn backcountry, as well as the incredibly difficult challenge of trying to sneak up on animals that possess superior senses of smell and hearing.
