Sea Otter

Sea otters live and play in the waters off the Pacific coast. They are one of the few animals known to use tools – they use small rocks to open shellfish. The otters play an important role in controlling sea urchin populations, which would otherwise damage the kelp forest ecosystem. They were thought to be extinct from the California coast, until 50 otters were found near Big Sur.

WILDLIFE IN PERIL

PROTECT
ENDANGERED SPECIES

Wildlife is running out of time. We’re building a national defense this year-end to protect the Endangered Species Act and the iconic species it saves. Your gift will power the movement to defend wolves, grizzlies, pollinators, and other at-risk species from extinction.

Together, we can protect their habitats, confront climate change, and keep our natural heritage alive. Together, we are stronger!
